HemoPet and Greyhounds

HemoPet is a non-profit animal blood bank and greyhound rescue. Hemopet offers the most advanced canine thyroid testing in the world. The quality, patented technology, service and consultation is used worldwide to benefit dogs with canine thyroid disease.

Did you know? HemoPet’s colony of greyhounds has saved thousands of cherished pets each year throughout the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and Mexico. A conservative estimate would be about 35-40 lives for each resident dog. So, that’s around 7,400 annually!

The REALLY cool part is that HemoPet is a state of the art facility located in Garden Grove, CA and is open to the public to walk, chill and socialize with the dogs up for adoption.

Greyhounds are magical dogs… having lived with one for years, you are not the same after being touched by one of these precious souls.

When they are grouped together, as in this photo when I visited the facility, they are always muzzled due to their very thin skin. Greyhounds can be quite playful at times, and are lightening fast (no joke) with their movements. The muzzles protect themselves from each other’s mouths.

Do yourself a favor and visit the facility. HemoPet is truly doing amazing transformative work for the benefit of ALL dogs!

  1. What a fantastic organisation. I know of no such group here in South Africa.
